Lapislazuli, affectionately known as lapis by natural stone fans, is one of the most popular natural stones.
The name comes from the combination of the Latin word "lapis", which means stone, and the Persian word "lazuli", which means deep blue color.
This deep blue stone has been used to decorate jewelry since the ancient civilizations of Greece and Egypt, and in Buddhism, one of the seven jewels, ``Ruri'', means Lapislazuli.
