Le quartz de cristal synthétique est un cristal cultivé artificiellement, composé de dioxyde de silicium, avec une dureté, une densité et un indice de réfraction identiques à ceux du quartz de cristal naturel. Grâce à son polissage de haute qualité et à ses bords nets, il présente un éclat éblouissant même avec de légers changements d'angle.
