Il a levé l'étendard de bataille "Furin Kazan" et a dirigé une cavalerie invincible connue sous le nom de "Kiba Gundan".
Ses batailles à Kawanakajima contre Kenshin Uesugi sont célèbres.
Il s'est également consacré à l'administration civile, construisant la digue Shingen-zutsumi sur la rivière Kamanashi pour contrôler les inondations et permettant le développement de nouvelles rizières.
Aujourd'hui encore, il reste un héros populaire et durable représentant sa patrie.
