Le cristal synthétique est un cristal de Quartz cultivé artificiellement, composé de dioxyde de silicium, avec une dureté, une densité et un indice de réfraction identiques à ceux du cristal naturel. Comme ils sont produits artificiellement, la qualité est stable et ils sont plus abordables que le cristal naturel, ce qui les rend adaptés à diverses utilisations.
