Il s'agit de perles en forme de pièce à facettes en améthyste striée, également connue sous le nom d'améthyste du Cap, d'améthyste chevron ou d'améthyste dent de chien. Le charme de ces perles réside dans les motifs de rayures de cristaux variés (quartz blanc) sur chaque pièce. Les deux côtés présentent une coupe en forme d'étoile de David, et le polissage de haute qualité donne aux bords une finition nette, ce qui leur confère une forte brillance.
