Ces perles en forme de tube sont fabriquées à partir de corail (bambou de mer) récolté à environ 3800m de profondeur au large des côtes indonésiennes, puis traité thermiquement et recouvert d'une couche d'or. Le traitement préserve la texture inégale unique du corail, ce qui donne un produit luxueux et brillant comme de l'or. Sa légèreté est également un avantage du corail.
