Les perles de coton sont fabriquées en compressant du coton en une forme sphérique et en appliquant un revêtement de perle à la surface. Les plis et irrégularités naturels du coton leur confèrent une texture plus douce et plus naturelle que les perles brillantes. Elles sont également nettement plus légères que les perles, réduisant le fardeau lorsqu'elles sont portées, même dans des créations utilisant plusieurs perles. Ce matériau polyvalent peut être utilisé aussi bien pour des occasions formelles que décontractées.
